“THE PROBLEM WITH PROCHECY”
1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:15, ESV).
The Problem: Claiming to have a message from God yields a powerful sway and many take advantage of that power by manipulating and controlling people for their own selfish motives.
TEST OF A PROPHET
1) ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE:
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isa. 8:20, KJV).
2) PROPHETIC PREDICTIONS FULFILLED
“When the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him” (Jer. 28:9, KJV).
3) THE ORCHARD TEST
By their fruits you will know them (Matt. 7:20, NKJV).
4) LIFTING UP JESUS
“Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God” (1 John 4:2, KJV).
Temptation can come from places.
There is never an for disobeying God’s Word, even if a fellow believer tries to convince you.
Some prophecies are they will only happen if we continue or discontinue a certain behavior.
24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.Matthew 24:24-25
PROPHECY & ME-CHALLENGE:
• Read 1 Kings 13
Ask yourself:
• How can I tell if a message is from God or not?
• Why do some people lie about receiving a message from God?
• Has someone told you about a message of God over your life? Have you confirmed it by the 4 test?
• Do you want to be in a committed relationship with Jesus the true Prophet who will guide you into all truth?
