Prophecy and Me - 1

“THE PURPOSE OF PROPHECY”

1 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. Hebrews 1:1-2

Prophecy: Prophecy is a message from God sent to the messengers of God (prophets), to help us learn, grow, and prosper.

RELATIONSHIPS ARE ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION

1) OUR FATHER WANTS US TO KNOW HIS PLANS:

“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7).

“He spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began” (Luke 1:70).

Because our Father desires an intimate relationship with us. He wants to communicate with us, give us guidance, to help us live disciplined, successful lives. He provides                          ,                    , and                         through His prophets, in what is called the gift of prophecy.

2) THE PURPOSE OF PROPHECY.

3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. 4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 1 Corinthians 14:3-4
