Somebody has to do it
PURPOSE, PASSION, POSITION, PLANNING
“SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT”
4 When I heard these words, I sat down and wept. I mourned for a number of days, fasting and praying before the God of the heavens.
11 Please, Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to that of your servants who delight to revere your name. Give your servant success today, and grant him compassion in the presence of this man. At the time, I was the king’s cupbearer. Nehemiah 1:1-4;11 (CSB)
Key thought: Your Job is not your purpose. Your purpose is not a WHAT, WHO, or WHERE. Your Purpose is a WHY
Purpose, Passion, Position, Planning:
1) PURPOSE: WE ALL HAVE PURPOSE
“You did not choose me, but I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you.” JOHN 15:16
2) PASSION: WHAT BREAK YOUR HEART
When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. Nehemiah 1:4
3) POSITION: YOU ARE UNIQUELY POSITIONED TO DO WHAT GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO.
In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, 2 so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.”
I was very much afraid, 3 but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” Nehemiah 2:1-3
4) PLANNING:
So I prayed to the God of the heavens 5 and answered the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor with you, send me to Judah and to the city where my ancestors are buried,[b] so that I may rebuild it.” Nehemiah 2:4
Dreamers dream about things being different. envision themselves making a difference.
Opportunity apart from preparation results is a opportunity.
Our tendency is to pray for . But in most situations, it is more appropriate to pray for opportunities.
24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.Matthew 24:24-25
PURPOSE, PASSION, POSITION, PLANNING:
• Read Nehemiah 1 & 2
Ask yourself:
• Do you feel as if God is calling you to do something?
• Does what you do stop you from following your call, how can you do both?
• What opportunities should you be praying for in your life right now?
• When was the last time something broke your heart and what are you doing about it?
